FAQs

What is Telehealth Physical Therapy?

Virtual Physical Therapy, or Telehealth, refers to services that are provided over a technology platform.

Physical Therapy itself is centered around conservative treatment as a means to help you alleviate discomfort and dysfunctinal movement. At PT Prehab we believe that our services are just as valuable proactively as they are retroactively, meaning that we can help whether you are currently experiencing an injury, have no injury, or have never had an injury before.

As Doctor’s of Physical Therapy, we treat, diagnose, and manage chronic conditions, as well as have extensive training in wellness, performance enhancement, and fitness training. All of which we are skilled to perform virtually from the comfort of your own home!

What Can I Expect at My First Appointment?

Prior to your first appointment, your Physical Therapist will send you a few intake forms to fill out within your client portal such as patient privacy, telehealth consent form and a general intake form.

At your first appointment, all that is needed is a device with a camera, microphone, and internet access. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you can move in as well as enough space that you can lie down and move around during the visit.

During the initial visit, your Physical Therapist will perform a comprehensive evaluation consisting of a medical history review, ruling out serious conditions, strength and range of motion measurements, and evaluation of your postures and movement patterns. Based on these findings, your Physical Therapist will utilize a combination of guided exercise, home exercise and movement analysis to help you reach your goals. We will also help to coordinate your care with other healthcare professionals when needed.

How Do I Know if Telehealth is Right for Me?

First, you do not need to be “tech savvy” to benefit from virtual sessions, as long as you have a device with a camera, microphone, and internet access, your PT will help guide you through the rest.

There are a HUGE number of conditions that can effectively be treated with remote guidance from our Physical Therapists. Our clients find telehealth PT convenient, cost-effective, time-saving and extremely communicative.

Still Unsure? We are happy to chat, just send us a note here.

How Do I Book a Telehealth / Remote Session?

If you are a new patient, click on “Schedule an Appointment.” Follow the prompts and you will be directed through setting up your first appointment!! If you are having trouble navigating our pages, drop us a note here.

Do I Need a Referral or See My Doctor Before Starting?

NO!! In all U.S. States, you can see a Physical Therapist at any point without a referral. In fact, research shows that the sooner you see a PT without delaying for a referral, the better your outcomes will be!

What Do You Mean No Insurance Required? What is a Cash-Based Practice?

We’ve all had the uncomfortable experience of going to see a Doctor and not knowing how much we are going to have to pay for the visit until after it is over OR we have to pay into our deductible as well as cough up a high co-pay to receive care.

Unfortunately, the current standing of the insurance-world is not straight-forward and creates more of a barrier for both the client and the practitioner. At PT Prehab, we have taken insurance out of the equation which means no high co-pays or deductibles for our clients and no chasing down third-party payers for our PTs. The cost you see on our pricing page is it, no hidden fees.

If you wish to submit a claim for reimbursement from your insurance company, you may request a Superbill at the end of your sessions. Know that PT Prehab does not guarantee insurance reimbursement via Superbill.

Do you accept Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flex Spending Accounts (FSAs)?

Yes! We accept both Health Savings Accounts and Flex Spending Accounts. When setting up your profile or going to check-out, input your HAS or FSA debit card as your payment method or submit your invoices directly to your employer / provider for reimbursement. Note that FSAs often expire at the end of the year, so don’t let it go to waste!

Does PT Prehab Accept Medicare Beneficiaries?

PT Prehab is considered “non-enrolled” in Medicare. This means that we have no relationship or contract with Medicare.

While third party Medicare Advantage plans do have out of network coverage, traditional Medicare Part B and Medicare Supplemental plans do not. This means that we do not bill and our clients cannot submit for reimbursement to Medicare Part B.

Unfortunately, under Medicare regulations, PTs are not allowed to accept cash for restorative or rehabilitative physical therapy sessions focused on pain relief, recovery of function, and post-surgical rehab. HOWEVER, we are allowed to see you via cash-based for the following circumstances:

• Wellness sessions aimed at helping you move better, perform at higher capacity and become more resilient

• Physical Therapy services after Medicare has denied further visits at an insurance-based PT clinic

What are PT Prehab’s appointment hours?

A key benefit of telehealth is flexibility in appointment scheduling, whether early morning, after work, or on a weekend. We’ll work with your schedule to make it work, just ask.
